We stop at 250 Broadway outside NYS lawmakers offices to say IT'S TIME TO LEAD: PASS THE NY HEALTH ACT NOW!
We carry with us today 30 human figures. Each figure represents 50,000 New Yorkers - 1.5 MILLION people - who will lose their health care as a result of the federal cuts unless Governor Kathy Hochul & NYS lawmakers take immediate action to call a special session and pass the New York Health Act.

Good News!

For 6 decades, Medicare and Medicaid have served millions of people, our families, and our communities, as the bedrock of our healthcare system. These vital and popular public programs serve 140 million people, that's 40% of the US, including 7 million Medicaid recipients in New York, 1/3 of whom are children.

Bad News!

The recent GOP budget bill slashes Medicaid by a whopping $1 trillion & Medicare by $500 billion, all to give huge tax cuts to corporations, billionaires & ICE. Insurance giants exploit patients and our public programs through for-profit schemes.

What’s Next?

• 17 million people in the U.S. will lose health insurance - including 1.5M New Yorkers.
• Hospitals, nursing homes, community health centers, and home care programs will have to cut services or close.
• Taxpayers, state & local governments will be left holding the bag - a $20 billion dollar NYS budget deficit!
