About Radical Elders

We are elders living in the United States and its colonies whose lives have been immersed in the struggles to replace a failing and oppressive social system with a society that is just, stable and sustainable.

Our experience has taught us that, to be successful, those struggles must clearly oppose capitalism, colonialism and imperialism, and specifically target their enabling forms of oppression such as racism and white supremacy; sexism and homophobia; ageism and ableism; and the dehumanization of systematically excluded or oppressed populations. That’s why we pay close attention to the issues confronting these oppressed groups and intentionally seek leadership from within those groups.

Founded on March 26, 2022 after a year and a half of organizing, discussing and planning, Radical Elders brings together Left movement activists in the United States over the age of 55.

We are developing constantly; it’s an ongoing process. But we have established certain principles and documents that reflect who and what we are.

We all believe fundamental social transformation should drive all our work and that intentionality which involves supporting the leadership of women and people of the global majority (often referred to as “people of color”) is critical to that social transformation.

We are democratic and our membership votes on major statements and strategic decisions.

We think the best expression of our perspective thus far is our mini-program. It’s a living document and so it’s always under development but it captures our thinking up to now.

Our membership is always open to you if you are over 55 years of age and, of course, agree with our politics. We’d love to have you aboard. All you have to do is fill out the “join form”. Takes less than a minute.
